Vintage Pieces

For me it’s either cheap jewelry or jewelry with a story behind it! If it’s not pricey I don’t have to worry about breaking it or loosing it. With story behind it I feel like I have to take very good care of it and makes me feel special wearing it.
Karen Hess makes these necklaces out of vintage pins, earrings, etc. so you know each piece has a story behind it! Each necklace is one of a kind <3 I can't wait to have my OWN: a very special one!

Check out her Etsy store

P.S. The picture is from a shoot we did. Those will come out soon;)

Why Guys Don’t Make Grand Gestures…

I found this article a while ago my scanner wasn’t so good apologize for that. But I thought it was quite interesting…

Dear ladies,

We need to talk. On behalf of men everywhere, there’s something I’d like to get off my (impossibly fresh-smelling) chest: Chick flicks are screwing with your expectations of guys. Even my irresistibly charming Old Spice commercials raise the bar. Just because your guys doesn’t offer you diamonds and puppies and beachside serenades like the Man your Man could smell like, it doesn’t mean he isn’t crazy about you.

Men do-and will- make huge (at least to us) gestures to proclaim love, and we do it every day. There’s just not a handy editor around to accentuate the effort. without the dramatic lighting and extreme camera angles, our gestures can lack scale and perspective. We may not look as stunning as John Cusack in his iconic boom-box stance in Say Anything, but guys often engage in acts that are driven by great love, which in and of itself makes the gesture grand.

Does your beau have the time (and resources) to build you a house `a la Ryan Gosling in The Notebook? Maybe not. But did he make you breakfast? With the exception of the possible plumber’s crack, fixing the sink is probably not as sexy as standing in the rain with no umbrella and a handful of roses, yelling your name. But we’re more likely to build you an Ikea bookshelf or create an iTunes playlist or do hundreds of small (at least to you) gestures that we are listening and thinking of you. Chick flicks spotlight the most grandiose of the grand gestures; maybe as a partial result, many of our real-life loving gestures go unnoticed. When a guys thoughtfulness is ignored, it’s not only heart wrenching, it also causes him to become gun-shy about making future gestures.

And there is a dark side that chick flicks don’t highlight but every guy thinks about. performing the ultragrand gesture to win a woman’s heart is high risk, high reward, but unfortunately, most men also see this as high risk, high likelihood of humiliation. There is a Youtube clip of rejected wedding proposals from guys who professed their love via scoreboards (never advised), billboards, skywriters, and half-page newspaper ads. Winning results in getting the girl and happiness, but if the grand gesture fails, we’ll be left with a constant reminder of how we went for it and lost.

Ladies, if you want more grand gestures, then pay attention to what your man is doing for you right now. If he’s taken the time to do something like cook dinner, then he may be a keeper. Any man who’s tuned in to your needs is someone who’s worth having around

Thinking of you always,

Isaiah Mustafa
